For providers, adviser firms and platforms

    Put this engine
    behind your own front door

Drawdown Simulator is a free UK retirement planning tool: a Monte Carlo engine with the UK tax rules built in, a six-question planner, and a plain-English story that walks a person through their own retirement year by year. It is two years of work, built and corrected in the open. Most people use it on a phone, which is what it is built for. The readers who write in when something looks wrong include accountants, pension professionals and advisers, and their corrections are usually live within days.

    Nothing to review

The numbers never leave the customer's device

The whole calculation runs in the browser. A person's pot, their salary, their health, their plans for their children: typed in, worked out and shown back on their own machine, and sent nowhere. Not to us, and not to you.

    • No personal data processed, so no data processing agreement and no lawful basis to argue over.
    • Nothing in your estate to classify, retain, or delete on request.
    • No hosting cost that scales with use, because the work happens on the customer's device rather than your servers.
    • Nothing to disclose after an incident, because there is nothing held to lose.

Most of a security review asks what happens to customer data once it has been collected. Here none is collected, which tends to be the difference between a project that starts this quarter and one that waits for a review slot.

    What is under the bonnet

    • A thousand simulated futures per plan, with sequence-of-returns overlays for 1973, 2000 and 2008.
    • UK tax to the pound: income tax bands, two personal allowances for a couple, the 25% tax-free slice against the lump sum allowance, CGT on taxable savings, fiscal drag.
    • State Pension timing and deferral, defined benefit and other income streams, spending guardrails with a floor, cash ladders, natural income from investment trusts.
    • Guaranteed income: lifetime and fixed-term annuities, held outside or inside the pension and paid into the pot, any number of purchases per plan.
    • A story, a year-by-year breakdown and a PDF record, all generated from the same numbers.

The methodology and assumptions are written up in the FAQ. The engine is covered by golden tests, and every change is verified against them.

    What readers say

"As comprehensive a tool as I have ever seen, and far better than what is offered by some pension providers. Monte Carlo modelling should be mandatory for projections."
A reader with thirty years in DC pensions
"Best online simulator I have seen."
A reader in a Facebook pensions group
"A great spot check for folks to get an understanding without an in-depth technical need."
A reader who runs Voyant and his own spreadsheets

    Three ways to work together

An adviser-facing version on your platform

The planner and the story, carrying your branding and your products, for advisers to walk clients through. Your compliance owns what your users see; the engine and the story stay ours to maintain. A private proof of concept can be built in days.

The engine behind your own tool

Licence the calculation engine for a journey you design, whether for guidance, targeted support or advice. You bring the permissions and the segments; we bring the maths and the year-by-year output.

A partnership on the public site

The public tool stays free and brand-neutral. Where a plan ends, it points people to free guidance and to regulated help. A firm can be part of that hand-off, with wording its own compliance has approved, and with plain disclosure to the reader.

    Plainly

The tool provides information and projections, not advice, and its author is not a financial adviser. Any firm using it carries its own regulatory responsibilities for what its customers see. Because nothing is stored, there is no user list here to acquire: what is on offer is the engine, the way it tells the story, and the readers who already trust it.
