UK Pension Drawdown Calculator
Drawdown Simulator is a free UK pension drawdown calculator. It models how long
your pension pot will last using Monte Carlo simulation, with full UK income tax, the State Pension,
inflation and married-couple modelling. There is no login, no ads, and nothing is stored on a server.
Enter a pot value, the age you want to retire, the age to plan to and a rough annual income target.
The calculator projects your plan year by year and runs thousands of randomised market scenarios, so
you see the full range of outcomes rather than a single average. Defaults follow UK 2026/27 tax rules
and can all be changed, and Scottish tax rates and couples are supported.
Two ways to use it
- Planner: six questions, then your plan read back in plain English.
- Calculator: every input on one screen for a detailed plan. Figures carry over between the two.
What it models
- Monte Carlo simulation reporting the share of futures in which your pot lasts to your target age.
- UK income tax per person using UFPLS, so withdrawals are 25% tax-free and 75% taxable across retirement.
- The GBP 268,275 lump-sum allowance, showing the year it runs out.
- State Pension with a triple-lock option (the higher of inflation, earnings growth or 2.5% each year).
- Flexible drawdown, annuity or hybrid strategies.
- Gilt ladders, filling the basic-rate band first, SIPP-to-ISA migration, a reserve floor and marriage allowance.
- Living off income from investment-trust dividends rather than selling units.
Questions it answers
- How long will my pension pot last?
- Can I afford to retire at 55, 60 or any given age?
- How much can I safely spend each year in retirement?
- What size pot do I need to hit a target income?
- How much tax will I pay in drawdown, and when does my tax-free cash run out?
