This one-screen calculator has more room on a laptop or tablet. On a phone, the planner is built for this screen, and it shares your numbers.

    Pension drawdown calculator

How long your pension lasts and the tax you'll pay, across 1,000 market futures. How it works.

New here? The planner asks six questions and builds this for you. Open the planner →

    The calculator

Every input on one screen: pots, markets, tax bands, State Pension, fine-tuning. The planner and this form share one plan; anything you enter in either place carries over.

    Personal Details

    Current age: 61

Age you want your pension pot to last until (default: 95)

Leave at 0 to spend it all ("die with zero"). Set it to see, beside works-in, how many of 100 futures end the target age with at least this much left across pensions, ISAs and savings. It does not change how the plan spends.

Turn this on before comparing two versions of a plan. The same run of market returns and inflation is used on every Calculate, so any difference you see is the setting you changed and nothing else. Turn it off for a fresh set of futures each time, which is what you want when you are reading the odds rather than comparing two options.

This does not mean one flat rate a year. Returns and inflation still vary from year to year, they just vary the same way each time. If you want a single unchanging rate, set Growth Type and Inflation Type to "fixed" in the assumptions below.

    Tax Calculation

Tax is automatically calculated using UK tax bands. You can customize the bands in the Tax tab for different tax years or scenarios.
